Fundamentals of Mindfulness:
Here’s a little good news: You were not born to just pay bills and die! Life is full of wonder and living mindfully makes this easily accessible. More good news: this is simple to learn and do, and even a little bit of mindfulness is a joy booster!

Mindfulness can be defined as using any or all of your senses and breath to be only in this present moment with nonjudgmental awareness. Our minds LOVE to take trips: sometimes they enjoy a good spiral into the future (which may or may not ever happen) and hang out here in a state of worry and “what ifs.” Sometimes our minds prefer to spiral backward into past actual or wishful events and hang out there in a state of regret and more “what ifs.” Mindfulness techniques pull both kinds of spirals to the present moment and bask in “What Is.” Pause and invite your own “what is” right now: notice everything about this moment: what do you see in your immediate surroundings? What do you hear? Notice your body– do you have any unmet basic needs? Notice the scent and feel of the air you are breathing, feel the pages
of this book. Life in this moment is pretty good, huh? Mindfulness shows us that each present moment is usually pretty good, always temporary, and worthy of our attention. This moment is a good one, linger here.
